Manaiakalani film festival

Waking up knowing that there was the manaiakalani film festival made me feel courouse ! I wasn’t worried I was just concerned about our movie, while I was getting ready I had noticed that my teacher never received my permission slip and money. When this occurred I decided to quickly ask my mum if she could write me a letter for my permission to attend the film festival.

Once I arrived at school I decided to give my permission slip to my teacher, technically I was nervous only because I thought he might say “ sorry it’s too late “ well he didn't so I had successfully  made it to the manaiakalani film festival.  

The day had started off with literacy, this continuously happened until we had the film festival. We actually had literacy then morning tea. This gave us the opportunity to eat our lunch. Once our morning tea was over our buses had arrived. We had travelled from Pt England to Sylvia park. As soon as we arrived at our destination we got given instructions such as line up in  2 lines. We had walked through the entrance of the cinemas, furthermore we had seen other schools.

When our school arrived in the cinemas we had noticed there was schools, they looked prepared. Considering they came early I can relate to why they were prepared, there was a school and it was there first time attending this event and making a film for the manaiakalani film festival. There school is called ( Ruapotaka ) their movies were good since it was there first time.

I recommend all the movies were good, I just felt grateful to attend the film festival. I'm happy considering I can go online and watch them again. I haven’t watched any yet but I will eventually watch some when it’s time.

My learning

Having the chance to attend school every week...

While I'm learning I intend to get off task,  for the fact that there are students attending dance, production, and class. While these students come in and out I try my best to get back on task. 

This week I have been reading about jelly belly. throughout this whole book I had learnt how people communicate with each other, people attending new schools/house. While I was reading the text I found information about me attending college. 

Saving

I am confident towards my learning, dedicated to all things I participate in etc. A way of gaining money is to participate in school to get a good job, How would you save ? it's good to think about what you buy and who you would give money to.  If I received money I would intend to share or save up.

Recommending all the subjects that we take or learn, i’m more interested in reading for the fact that you learn new things such as your vocabulary, helps you towards word problems, furthermore you can get the information about the book that you receive.

While I was writing I had learnt about how to prevent yourself from getting sick, I learnt that when you are sick it would be good to make sure you are well looked after. A way to prevent yourself would be keeping inside the house and keep clean.

Wants and Needs

Having the opportunity to receive money is a great time to think about your choices, this is the meaning of how we spend money though this depends on what we think we need and want. This essay will explain the difference between what a need is, and what a want is.  

What is a want?

A want can be considered something that is usually what we admire though that item is not needed, we usually look around at shops when we should be spending our money on family needs such as helping out with petrol and food.

What is a need?

A need is a necessity. This is the meaning of something that we live on such as oxygen, we all need oxygen for the fact that we are in order to breath. Something that I recommend useful towards a need is food and water, a need is something that we use on a daily basis and this is considered water as you normally get dehydrated and unfocused towards your learning, and this is the same with food.

Which is more important ?

I recommend a need is more important than a want for the fact that we are choosing the wrong choices and not thinking wisely towards the item that we intend to buy. For the fact that you can spend your money and be on a budget such as buying your clothes from the warehouse instead of nike and… it’s good to think about the choices that you are making.

On the situation that has occurred such as wants and needs, we need to be responsible and think wisely about our choices.

No more playtime for primary school, My debate towards playtime

Do you really think playtime is necessary, think about it.

If we spent your time doing playtime we wouldn't have to finish our work the very next day, though this is depending on the work that you are participating to. I recommend playtime is good at times... as we get time to communicate better furthermore getting the time to eat our lunch.

I understand that children like playtime, but considering they are going off to college they should be focusing on learning, further more college has no playground, I recommend this is a great chance to learn and be educated would be a great chance to just worry about school. People don’t realize until they get to college, this means once they are at college they don’t realize on what they have missed out on learning. When this happens we are rushing our work and not been able to write how we usually write, because this happens teachers say “if you don’t finish your work you have to stay in”. Here’s the reason my we rush our work, further more this happens because we are to busy talking and looking around instead of finishing off our work.

Play time is also good for the fact that you are getting the chance to embrace your talent and to be better at communicating with others, children just love playtime to have the chance to get to just relax and not learn. Playtime is also good for the fact that you get to just rest your eyes off work and worry about all the excitement that all around you, I think that children like playtime so they can just think about other things instead of just work and finish of our tasks. besides the excitement we definitely enjoy the food as we get to eat out lunch.

Topic: Why we have rules

Purpose: The meaning of what we usually do during class

Audience: People that look on my blog, and family.

Considering school had been passing by I had caught a idea of why we have rules during class, and school, for the fact that we have been having school then moving on to college it’s truly having the chance to connect with people that are around us further more you can call it socialising.

The purpose of having rules is that we have the understanding of what we are learning such as the subjects that we are contributing to, such as when we are struggling on something we often put our hands up so that it shows respect towards the people around you, continued on by, it’s a sign for help.

Often there is always somebody that likes to usually talk in class, and the rule for this is don’t talk when the teacher is talking this is also including students. The reason why we include this is because we would expect the same when we are talking, it’s good to show respect to your class and the people around you because when you are talking you would want people to listen to what you are talking unless you want to repeat what you were saying.

Lastly there is listening, for fact that we all listen, well not all the time but that is the main focus of learning.  We struggle at things, that's why we need to listen to what subject we are taking, and how to work things out. I like to try my best at things as i’m trying to improve my report as i’m trying to get high expectations to show what I have been doing at school.

Future asperation

Having the opportunity to get introduced to Marcus Winter, known as the sandman gave me the opportunity to get updated, as I never knew that there was a sand man known as Marcus Winter further more he started off small though he was doing exactly the same work. It’s truly amazing to hear somebody such as Marcus Winter beginning at something so extraordinary to start turning into a artist and traveling places that he has never been to, since this had occurred it’s great news to listen to his experience towards team 5.

We had also been introduced to Louis Gordon-Latty who is a basketball player, much more he invented a ipad app that had now been produced towards sports, the meaning of this is that this app contains recording for when your playing. The reason why Louise had invented this app was because he wanted to experience the moment again.

Since we had the future aspirations, something that stood out to me was everything that they said because I learnt new things throughout the whole thing. Since this had happened I feel very grateful that this had happened, for the fact that I really enjoyed myself besides listening was the presentation of what they are talking about and that’s what I enjoy.

Besides having the people come and introduce themselves we had a few poems that we all enjoyed, the first poem that I recommended lovely and true was I can accept failure, everyone fails at something but I can not accept not trying, in the words of Michael Jordan.

Tips about researching

Mr Burt Korero

Having the opportunity to be welcomed towards world war 1 gave me the chance to know more about new  things and how they worked, for example we had Mr.Bert come and introduce himself to technology and if team 5 thinks technology can be good or bad? as he had just explained the people that had fought in WW1 as Mr.Bert had explained that his grandad had came up with the first modern bike, further more the grandad was a great grandad to Mr.Bert.

Things that I have learnt throughout the conversation that we had talked about was, getting introduced to all the presentations. Continued on by technology, I recommend this new technology is greater then back in the olden days because we can communicate better

and we can enjoy ourselves.

Today was a chance for me to show my skills towards basketball, I had learnt so many things such as double dribble, defence, shooting, and strong bounces towards the floor. We had practises and then we got into a game as our final drill as we had to back to class for learning, this had happen because there was other classes that had to go do basketball. I had really enjoyed my time as it is good fitness for my class and to have a chance to do some sports as a class.

Experience of Tamaki Collage

Having the chance to experience Tamaki College, was a great time to pay attention to what I will be learning because according to my schedule I will be a year 9 next year, i’m not so sure what College I will attend to but as long as i’m on task of what I am learning.

As we had arrived at Tamaki College I had noticed that there was no students that had attend to College besides the student that helped out, since this had occurred I had realized that this had happened because all different schools came to Tamaki College, further more we came to Tamaki College for the fact that the year 8 are going college next year and we need the experience to see what classes we would attend.

The first period that we had attend was P.E, this was showing the type of sports and different ways that you can do with your team, what we had done was have all sorts of little sports that you would do such as soccer but you have to use your hands, basketball so just how you play normally, touch and the rule with that if you can do forward passes and if you get tagged you hand the ball to the other team and that's what we had done for 20 minutes.

Second period was science, some people had the chance to have all different subjects in science for example some people made ice-cream but it was a certain recipe that turns into ice-cream. Much more my group had just done ways that electricity works such as how things work, I had learnt that there is all different ways to get electricity even though electricity cant run through plastic and rubber but it can through metal,

This period is my favourite subject that I had done throughout the whole day, this was social studies, and this was having the chance to have quizzes that is resent to the news, I had got to have a partner such as my friend because she didn’t have a netbook so I didn't mind furthermore I really enjoyed my time laughing throughout social studies.

Peride 3 was maths, I also enjoyed this for the fact that I struggle at maths though I found it fun and actually learning lots of things knew, I was really proud for completing maths so I felt happy through the whole perode. The teacher gave me a chocolate of some sort so that made me feel like im good at completing things of maths as I normally find maths hard.

ANZAC memorial

My recount of assembly

According to the first day of school  Monday the 20th of April, I had got the notification that our school will have assembly, the topic that I had received was about ANZAC. I wasn't expecting assembly so soon until I had got the news of having ANZAC. Further more we didn't just go to the hall straight away we had heard the 8:30 bell and then strolled into our classes and put our bags away. As we had finished putting everything that we needed we had done a little meeting in the street.

Once we had finished doing our meeting about what we will be doing for today our teachers had told us to get into boys and girls formation for the meaning of this it means boys and girls and into two lines. As I was walking through the breeze I could see chairs set out of course but most of all healthy food set out? I had completely no idea what was going on but I had a fear idea what was going to happen.

We had all settled down on our chairs having the prefects give out all these healthy fruits received to us, since this had occurred I still had no idea what was happening besides ANZAC day. We had got Mr.Bert explain what was happening so that made me get that subject away. Mr.Bert was telling us how it is ANZAC day and how these food had that got delivered to us, it was unusual to have these food given out to us for the first time but in the mean time I enjoyed it.

Suddenly we had got team 1 all the way to team 5 all different subjects for this term, team 1 had done the subject of healthy eating and had done people give out healthy food, besides this they had done a presentation of different ways being healthy towards their eating. Team 2 had done  winnie the pooh and all his friends try to build a house for Eeyore considering this happened it was a form of  the teachers performing a show, carried on by team 3 there subject was a game made of happiness and laughter showing what you can do when it’s raining, further more team 4 doing another subject of games that you can do when it it raining, along with team 5 doing the subject of showing respect towards ANZAC day.

Polyfest writing 2

Considering it was a Friday, and each student from team 5 had been given a permission slip, this meant I was one of those people that would play outside and forget to give my permission slip because I was too busy worrying about my weekend,  Monday can be usually a tired start to school as your weekend starts, when this happens it gives you the chance to stay up late. We were actually in luck since we had to give our permission slips by Thursday as that was the day we would leave for polyfest.

Thursday

The day had come, this meant it was  time to experience polyfest 2015. As soon as we had got the opportunity to go polyfest I had seen things set out, there were so many stations that was laid out on one part of the field. When we had walked through the entrance gate we had been welcomed to ASB and there little station for people and students, I was considering there was gonna be other schools as it was a thursday. Things from the ASB section was to get a sticky note and write something we know about ASB, I had wrote dear ASB you company is such a privilege to our family you are such a good company, once the lady had received my peace of writing to stick it up on the wall she thought it was so lovely I had received a wrist band. Every other station had quizzes to try and win things such as a bottle and bag gifts and things in those gifts were sunglasses, sunblock, a fan, a ball and a bag that came with it. Even though we had station most of them we had to take a photo so they can show we had come to their station and to show we had come to polyfest.

We had needed parents to come along to help out with polyfest, once the teachers looked at the slips they had seen there was not as much parent helpers as they thought there would be, there was one more day left to polyfest and there was a letter given out to say please we need more parent helpers so parents had volunteered to help out. When we had heard that there was not as many parents as we needed the teachers were thinking to not go as there was not enough parent helpers, though we had received the good news that had said we are able to go as there had been volunteers to come along and help out. Experience of polyfest

Having the opportunity to experience polyfest made me feel more expressed towards 2015. Each class from team 5 got to have the chance to go to polyfest, we had experienced different sections of the activity area, we had done five activities that had been already set out for each team, we had got put into 4 groups and that was selected before we had arrived at polyfest.

I had decided to make a plan before I arrive at polyfest, and that was to make sure I participate throughout my learning. Through out the day I had laughter and excitement as I expressed myself towards my experience  to my activities. I had been so grateful to be given the opportunity to be at polyfest.

As the day had been passing by I decided to take a break and just sit down, for the fact that the heat of the sun and been rising above me made me wonder I should have gone under the shade.

Even though I was walking in agony I decided to just make the most of the day as we can show how much we have learnt and enjoyed our time, by being tired but still enjoying my time made me want to do more things like polyfest.

My Writing about culture event

Having opportunities to be invited to birthday parties is a great opportunity because, you get to experience how they celebrate their time in there way of culture. I am about to occur a  calibration towards my cousin birthday, her culture is Tongan, she is 8 years old and having the chance to turn 9 years old.

From each side of her family one person from their family will be selected to dance, my cousins mum is making a big 8th birthday because she is worried her mum might not make it for her big 16th birthday. I have meet her

The theme that will be set for my cousin birthday is princess, I didn’t have princess in mind but it’s not my birthday, I asked my cousin “is that the theme you want”? she replied back “her mum wanted the theme” though she doesn't mind. Further more there was a chance for me to see the rest of her family, not just that but to be more closer then we already are.

The person from my family going ahead to dance is my sister, she had been thinking about doing the dance she had recommended dancing because it is for a good course. My sister has been dancing for the birthday since her birthday is coming up on saturday. My sister had decided it was a great opportunity to be chosen to dance.

My cousins birthday is occurring on saturday at 2:00 o'clock, i’m prepared to have a challenge prepared such as things that are coming up on saturday...

Reading task

My writing about what I did in the weekend

Apparently it was saturday and it was really early, I woke up only because I heard a big slam!

coming from the door. Meanwhile I decided to wake up and sprint to my mum, but then as soon as I had the chance to say where  are you going, she was already on her way to leave. I then found out from my older sister that my mum drove off to the bank to pay the bills.

My mum txt my sister but obviously I had to give her phone away, because she asked me to,  and that means I have to grab her phone because she is the oldest. I had arrived in her room and found her phone laying around on her bed. Then I had read the message only because it was from my mum… and it said make sure your sister does the washing which means me and my sister do loads more than me. She then read the message and she screwed her face up at it. She told me everything that she had to do well she just does the washing. I had said “let me ask mum then” and she then got caught, I had said to her “hahaha  try to make me do all the things you were supposed to do”, and she just laughed and so did I.

I have to admit  hanging out the washing was a lot of clothes but its better then doing all the things my sister had to do. I ended up helping her because I felt sorry for her doing all those stuff so I decided to do the  vacuum the house. Once we had finished cleaning the house my mum arrived pretty much like 18 minutes later. In the mean time at least my mum brang us (Mcdonald) to eat for cleaning the house. My brother he well,  was just practising his dance for poly fest. He was lucky because he didn’t have to clean but in the same time he didn’t get anything to eat besides him having breakfast.

The day had been moving fast and it was a big day cleaning and eating in the same time,  we had just watched home and away. We had ended the day off well. It was a great day besides cleaning… but at the end of the day it was still fun. We ended up relaxing after that and then playing with my cousin for around 10  minutes then leave to do the dishes. I didn’t know were the dishes came from but I ended up doing it as a thank you for my food that had been given to me.

Writing about my first day at school

Going to school on the first day didn't exactly work out, for the reason that school started on Monday and I started on Tuesday. This occurred because I had come back to New Zealand at 12:00 because I was at Australia.

Luckily I came back on Monday, so that I only miss one day of school not weeks, I had came to class a bit late because I was waiting to know what class I was in. Mr.Bert told me and it was class 1. I didn't know exactly who I was going to be with but my friends said I was with them furthermore I felt relieved that I had friends in my class.

Since it was my first time we decided just to relax and just talk about what we done in the holidays. It was a great time because it was just a great sunny weather, with the sun out and the wind coming it was such a great combination.

Once we had finished and the bell rang we just lined up in two boy and girl lines. It was such a peace full day and watching people smile and the teacher smiling because we were lining up quietly…

our teacher then said “we may go inside” so we did. it was just such a great time at school and having a good day to just relax, we had got our first instruction to do art and it was so easy we did number plates.

Time was running so fast during the day so we just did writing and art so, including a lovely day of shininess and a nice breeze.
